Sony Electronics (Singapore) has partnered with Crypto.com to enable USDC payments for web purchases on its store, marking a significant leap towards the usage of cryptocurrency for everyday transactions. The partnership renders Sony Electronics the first major consumer electronics company in Singapore to enable USDC payment, a U.S. dollar-pegged stablecoin, via Crypto.com Pay.
Crypto.com Powers USDC Payments for Sony Online Store
According to a post by Crypto Miners, Sony’s Singapore-based subsidiary has integrated cryptocurrency payment options through Crypto.com, enabling users to pay for products directly using USDC. This comes following a surge in cryptocurrency usage across Southeast Asia, with Singapore leading the pack on crypto-supporting policies once again.
Crypto.com Singapore General Manager Chin Tah Ang emphasized that the partnership aims to mainstream crypto payments. He added that with a recognized brand like Sony, not only are transactions simplified, but consumer consciousness is also boosted regarding the ease and security of crypto payments.
Benefits for Users and Expanding Payment Options
This new payment integration will benefit Crypto.com users with the added feature of using their crypto assets to make real-world purchases. Furthermore, Sony Electronics will expand its cryptocurrency options beyond USDC in the near future, providing more payment options to its customers.
As part of the launch celebration, Sony has launched two special offers for Crypto.com users. The first 50 customers who spend over S$300 using Crypto.com Pay will receive a free LinkBuds Speaker valued at S$299, and the first 150 users who spend a minimum of S$100 will receive 20 USDC credited into their Crypto.com accounts.
