  • Strategy now holds 602K Bitcoin, locking in 3% of the total supply after 20 straight quarters of institutional accumulation.
  • From just 38K in 2020 to 602K in 2025, Strategy’s Bitcoin buildup shows unmatched conviction across bull and bear cycles.
  • The firm added 75K BTC in six weeks, confirming its role as a major driver of institutional Bitcoin dominance this cycle.

As of July 13, 2025, Strategy has increased its total Bitcoin holdings to 602,000 BTC, locking up 3% of the market. In addition to demonstrating aggressive long-term accumulation over the previous five years, this represents the largest institutional Bitcoin investment to date.

Quarter-by-Quarter Growth Signals Deep Conviction

The chart data tracks a sharp rise beginning from just 38,000 BTC in Q3 2020. According to a post by Cointelegraph, Strategy doubled that position by Q4 and entered 2021 with 91,000 BTC. The move came during heavy price swings, but Strategy held its course and kept buying across cycles.

The total amount of Bitcoin held in 2022 was 130,000. In order to reach 152,000 BTC, the company added smaller quantities between Q2 2022 and Q1 2023. Only a few months later, a more aggressive phase of expansion was paved with this methodical strategy.

Accumulation Pace Picks Up Into 2024

Holdings hit 189,000 BTC in Q3 2023 and 214,000 BTC by year-end. By Q1 2024, Strategy held 226,000 BTC. This period reflected a shift toward scaling exposure through calculated quarterly additions. Custody remained in-house while the firm focused on building resilience across cycles.

The next leg came fast-252,000 BTC by Q2 2024, then a surge to 447,000 BTC in Q3. This rise lined up with broader inflows into institutional crypto products. The strategy didn’t slow down. Q1 2025 closed with 528,000 BTC on record and confirmed consistent buying despite market pressure.

3% Supply Locked In as Strategy Cements Dominance

Strategy added an additional 75,000 BTC between Q2 and mid-July 2025. This increased the total to 602,000 BTC, which is equivalent to 3% of all Bitcoin that is presently in use. Given the magnitude of this action, Strategy is now one of the most significant participants in the Bitcoin ecosystem.

This isn’t just a balance sheet play-it’s a clear signal. Strategy’s long-view approach reflects full-cycle belief in Bitcoin’s role in future markets. As more institutions follow, the firm’s positioning could act as a baseline for how aggressively capital rotates into Bitcoin amid shifting macro forces.
